AN INSURANCE AGENCY SPANNING THREE GENERATIONS
In 1962, Don Short started Short Associates, Inc. in Leo, Indiana as a sales organization providing Life and Health services. In 1980, his eldest son, Steve, joined the agency to expand the product line through Property and Casualty services, and later his daughter, Mandy Swanson, and her husband, Darrell, joined in 2002 and 2009 respectively.
THE BEGINNING
With Steve’s primary focus being in Property and Casualty insurance, he was able to expand the agency with many carriers including ERIE Insurance Group being a main underwriter. He was able to grow the agency by committing to a high standard of excellence in everything and by establishing a solid relationship of mutual trust and service with every client.

For over 50 years, Short Associates, Inc., now under the leadership of Mandy and Darrell Swanson, has maintained its Northwestern Indiana reputation in the insurance industry for clients and carriers alike. With multiple carrier relationships and in-house licensed agents, we are poised to help guide clients in their property, casualty, life, and health needs. For many consecutive years, our agency has boasted a referral incentive program and our clients are our biggest supporters!
